Catalogue and Web Images
Apr 21st
I spent yesterday going through my work to find the images that will be on the Degree show website. I also created the final image that will be printed in the catalogue.
Below are the three images I created. I first made the middle one but wasn’t entirely happy so I tried moving the middle two images so they are above each other (the right image). But I wasn’t happy with this either so I tried a far left design. I’m still not sure which one to go for? but I think the left design works the best.. what do you think?

Artefact Four
Apr 19th
So its been a while since I completed Artefact three, been busy completing the client project then the ski trip and lots of other things that have been going on. However its now done! I still feel I could add some more to it but I am quickly running out of time so something is better than nothing at the moment!
This time round I looked at HDR (High Dynamic Range) Images and how they are used to make a 3D scene much more realistic.
Here’s the completed video..

Here’s a high res still from the video. I’ve added a slight depth of field to the shot too.

BUSC – Alpe d’Huez
Apr 6th
I spent last week at BUSC (British Universities Snowsports Council) which was held in the French Ski resort Alpe d’Huez. Needless to say I had an amazing week. Loads of fresh snow which was totally unexpected for this time of year.. some of the best power riding I’ve done so far.
I took quite a lot of pics over the week (2101) but not so much video. I couldn’t be bothered to carry my camera around with me the entire week. I will be putting a short video together some time soon.

I also tracked a run from the very top of the resort to the very bottom. I used an App called GPS Motionx on the iPhone. This is pretty cool because you can see exactly where I went. I managed to get a top speed of 42mph and a total distance of 7.24 miles.
Use the Google maps embed below to have a look around..
Note: These satellite shots must have been taken in the summer hence no snow.
Below: Screen shot from Google earth with the tracking data overlaid on the 3D terrain. You get a sense of the distance covered.
Client Project Completion
Apr 5th
So it’s finally over. (kind of)
I finished and handed this project in on the 26th March but have been away last week so didn’t get the change to post up the finished result.
I’m really pleased with the results of this project. I have learnt so many new techniques in After Effects I now feel pretty confident with the software. The final push to get this all polished up and ready for hand in ended up a bit of a nightmare! There were quite a few late nights and many hours spent sat in front of the pc.
I tried a couple of music tracks out but finally decide on International Rustic by Modern Institute. This track seems to fit really nicely with the mood I was trying to express with the visuals.
Any way enough talking, here it is in its three minutes of glory…
