I spent yesterday going through my work to find the images that will be on the Degree show website. I also created the final image that will be printed in the catalogue.

Below are the three images I created. I first made the middle one but wasn’t entirely happy so I tried moving the middle two images so they are above each other (the right image).But I wasn’t happy with this either so I tried a far left design. I’m still not sure which one to go for? but I think the left design works the best.. what do you think?

We had to pick 1, 3 or 5 bits of work for the site with the best bit of work in the middle.

So below are the the images I have picked and to the left of them are the thumbnails that will be used as a link to that piece.

1. Theatre Design

2. Chopper Design. need to decided between this image or the one below.

2. Reflective Orbs. I think I prefer this, it looks more visually pleasing I would say.

3. This is the thumbnail I’m using as a link to my showreel. which hasn’t been made yet..

4. LA stereographic. I needed to include one of these because I love them

5.Day2night. This one of my favourite pics at the moment so I think its worthy of a include.

So that’s about it.. Any comments are welcomed

The Images have to be 11cm x 11cm at 300dpi

Here are eight images I have chosen so far..

Style one: One image with enlarged image as background. This works well because the original images were too wide to take up the entire square.

Style two: Straight up image. A little less interesting but it works for these images.

Style three: Seven shots of one project arranged in this order. By having multiple images of one project you get a better understanding of what its about.

Style four: again seven images of one project but enlarged images on the left. I think the theatre project below is my favourite image out of them all.

Please tell me what you think. This is pretty important because one will be printed in the final year catalogue!

This was a little harder to find the relevant courses. However after talking to course mates I looked at the courses they had found and I noticed that the same institutes did courses relevant to me.

I would most like to get on a course at Escape Studios because this looks like a great place to work and the chances of getting a job afterwards are really high, the down side is that it cost £8,750

Bournemouth – Digital Effects

Escape – Full time compositing course/ Evening compositing course

Teesside – Animation, Games & Computer Graphics

NFTS – SFX/VFX

I will be mock applying for the course at Escape although NFTS has an application form you can download and fill out. This is useful to see what the requirements are likely to be to get on a post-grad course.

At the moment Framestore or Lumiere are the most likely the ones I will ‘apply’ for although the work Jellyfish produce is really cool but there isn’t an application form or any advertised vacancies available at the moment.

Jelly Fish – Compositor

Lumiere – 3D/ 2D compositors

This task has been useful, I have realised that if I actually want to apply for one of these jobs and have a chance of getting in I need to learn Nuke and Maya as these seem to be industry standard and essential. Something to do after I graduate I think.
