Outlook Festival 2011 – Croatia – Round Up
Oct 9th
This summer I finally made it to Outlook festival in Croatia. This post is a collection of photos and video I took while out there. There wont be much chat, as it’s hard for me to explain in words what it was like. What I can say is, it was one of the most enjoyable weeks of my life..
Click below and hopefully my photos and videos can do it some justice..
Busc 11 – Round Up
May 23rd
So Its been while since my last post… I don’t know why but I seem to have very little spare time nowadays. I guess working a full time job really does take its toll on personal projects and keeping things updated. Any way at the beginning of April I went back out to the French Alps with some friends from Nottingham Trent Uni. Once again we had an awesome time. The snow wasn’t amazing with it being towards the end of the season, however the X-games were held there only a few weeks before so the parks were top level. We spent most the days shredding them up. I filmed quite a bit again.. standard, this time I didn’t edit all the footage to music etc so I just created a few little videos that consisted of the best bits, these went up on facebook.
I did get time to produce the following little edit. While on the slope I had the idea of the camera pole floating between people by getting someone to carry it from behind. We did a few trial runs and it actually ended up being quite difficult. The person being filmed had to remember not to get the person who handed the camera to them in shot. The person taking the camera around had to make sure their shadow wasn’t in the shot. We tried it a few times, The following edit has been chopped up a bit to make it go to the beat, also to cut out any bits where you could see the carrier.

SnowSport DVD Production/Premiere
Mar 23rd
So after three months of hard work the time arrived to finally show everybody what we had been doing. Me and Alex had one final push to get the DVD completed before Trent students broke up for Easter holidays. It was quite a stressful time as there was still a bit to get sorted. Alex was working on getting all the artwork ready to print and I was working on setting up the menu system for the DVD. We finished it all by the Sunday evening and had the master copy of the disc sent via next day recorded delivery (Royal Mail Style) on Monday.
The discs were produced by vponline, a small company up in Scotland. The turn around was very quick. He managed to get all 100 discs sent back down to us by Friday morning. I highly recommend using them if you need any discs duplicating.
Below are a few shots of the DVD artwork. We got dual sided cover prints and clear cases so when you open it there are a couple of pictures on the inside. The DVDs were thermal printed which means they are water resistant and better quality.

Editing Marathon
Jan 26th
I spent the last weekend blasting through more Snowsports DVD. On the Sunday my friend Alex (who designed all the branding) came over to help with the editing and work on his intro animation. Over all I recon I’m over half way done. The total length of the main section so far is around 20 min. There is plenty of spare footage that will go in the extras. On average there’s around 1 hour of footage per day that needs to be cut down to around 3 min! It’s a long and some times boring task, however once a section is finished its pretty rewarding.
While we were editing I set up a little time-lapse. It’s over about a 7 hour period. We found 13 hats around the house that we put on and changed every 10 min… just for the hell of it.
Here are some more screen grabs from the footage I’ve done so far.
It’s all coming together quite nicely! I cant wait to reveal it all soon
Fun In The Snow With The GoPro

Last week I was up in the French Alp ski resort Val Thorens with 220 Nottingham Trent Students! It was my job to document the entire trip with photos and video. My contraption I built the previous week came in very handy! It was great being able to pass the camera around and allow people to get personal views of them skiing. Over all I got around 67Gb of data!
Below are a couple of screen grabs I’ve taken from some of the footage.
Below is a quick video I spliced together of me bombing it down the mountain at 46mph and also hitting some powder
.
If you were wondering how I know the speed.. well I was tracking some of the runs with an app for the iPhone called Motionx GPS. Below is the route we took on the valley rally. This was when I hit my top speed of 50.9mph. It felt pretty damn fast :p.
Click and drag over the map to view it from different angles. Isn’t Google wonderful.
